Artist: Andy Curran, Album: Andy Curran, Song: Let Go

"All my secrets been locked away.  Coming back to haunt me someday.  Let go.  Gotta let go."  Andy Curran is a Toronto musician.  Mostly recognized for his vocal duties with the band, Coney Hatch.  Andy decided to start a new band called Soho 69, only to be signed as a solo artist with Alert Records.  Notable band members included Simon Brierley (FM) and Glenn Milchem (Blue Rodeo).  Andy's solo debut won a Juno award in 1991 and had a number of radio singles.  The song, Let Go, was one of them.  Andy's former band mate from Coney Hatch, Carl Dixon, also performs on the album.  I remember watching these guys in Brampton at a bar called Hot Rocks.  Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) was in attendance that evening as well.  Andy would encounter label issues and move on to the Hypnotic label to record as Soho 69.  Grunge had already taken over the mainstream though but it didn't deter him from experimenting with his sound.  He would resurface again in a number of similar sounding bands like Caramel and Drug Plan in the late nineties.  Both bands had moderate success but more importantly, they showed Andy's versatility as a vocalist.  The self titled debut is a difficult find today.  At the time of this blog, there were used copies trading on Amazon between $15 and $60.  You can hear the song, Let Go, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qGmri0lwFA).  As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
