Artist: Islands, Album: Vapours, Song: No You Don't

"Don't buy dope from the man you don't know."  Islands is mainly one individual named Nick Thorburn along with a revolving cast of musicians from the Montreal area.  The original line up rose from the ashes of a now defunct indie act called the Unicorns.  Members of the Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre and Wolf Parade have all contributed to his music in recent years.  Islands released their debut in 2006 and have garnered a lot of international acclaim.  Vapours is their most recent release (2009) which features the catchy song, No You Don't.  Nick is another artist that also maintains a pop sensibility to his songs and this one is no exception.  It's a trippy tune with a danceable beat.  The band signed with ANTI records in Los Angeles and have been touring the US and Europe.  They have three albums to date.  You can follow Islands at http://www.myspace.com/islands or at http://islandsareforever.com/.  The album, Vapours, is available on Itunes.  You can watch the video for the song, No You Don't, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTzA8XejLxE).  The actor, Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Juno), acts in the video.  As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
