Artist: John Southworth, Album: Mars Pennsylvania, Song: It's Not The End Of The World

"Can't we just quit on Monday morning.  Man, there better be another world.  It ain't exactly hip to be an earthling."  John Southworth is a singer songwriter from Toronto.  He is a multi-instrumentalist with a real throwback sound.  He released his debut album in 1996, entitled, Mars Pennsylvania, which included this track, It's Not The End Of The World.  It reminds me of Burt Bacharach and the Walker Brothers.  It's a wonderful slice of 60's pop.  John has 8 albums to his credit and his most recent, Human Cry, was released in 2010.  He has collaborated with Hawksley Workman and Mary Margaret O'Hara.  He's also opened for Andrew Bird, written a song for Jully Black and had his own song covered by Sarah Slean.  He once toured from Halifax to Vancouver by rail, stopping to perform busker style in train stations along the way.  A quirky, eccentric artist that is so talented yet under appreciated within the borders of his own country.  Hopefully, that changes.  You can follow John at http://www.johnsouthworth.ca/.  You can purchase the album, Mars Pennsylvania on Itunes.  You can hear the song, It's Not The End Of The World, on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rAG7jM0xl4).  As always, you can hear this song as well as others that I blog about each day on Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/stations/raisedoncndnradio).  Thanks for reading and enjoy!
